Niko Kovać Declines Offer to Manage Shabab-Ahli Dubai Football Club

Niko Kovač, born on 15 October 1971, is a distinguished professional football coach and former player h from Croatia. Throughout his career, Kovač showcased exceptional skills and leadership both on and off the field.

As a defensive midfielder, Kovač was revered for his remarkable passing and tackling abilities. He served as the captain of the Croatia national team for several years until his retirement from football in January 2009. Notably, he led the team during the 2006 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro2008, leaving a lasting impact with his tactical prowess.

Kovač enjoyed a successful club career primarily in the German Bundesliga. He represented prestigious clubs such as Hertha BSC, Bayer Leverkusen, Hamburger SV, and Bayern Munich. His experience in top-level club competitions further solidified his reputation as a formidable player.

Following the conclusion of his playing days, Kovač transitioned into coaching. He began his coaching journey with Red Bull Salzburg, initially serving as the reserve team coach before progressing to the role of assistant manager under Ricardo Moniz.

In 2013, Kovač assumed the position of head coach for the Croatia national under-21 team, subsequently taking the reins of the senior national team later that year.

Kovač’s managerial career reached new heights when he guided Croatia at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. His success on the international stage led to his appointment as the head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016. Under his leadership, the team achieved a historic victory in the 2018 DFB-Pokal Final.

In 2019, Kovač embraced a new challenge by joining Bayern Munich. He steered the club to a domestic double in his debut season, showcasing his tactical acumen and strategic approach to the game. Despite his accomplishments, Kovač parted ways with Bayern later on.

In the summer of 2020, Kovač embarked on a new venture as the manager of Monaco. However, his tenure with the club came to an end on 1 January 2022.
