What Ghana Football Association should do

Jacob menkah expresses his thoughts on what the citizenry should expect as possible outcome of the election

The Ghana football association after clearing the air over claims of a possible extension of the current mandate of the executive council by announcing to the general public that, the long awaited election Congress would take place before the end of October 2023.

Taking into consideration, all the accomplished promises the current administration has been able to achieve still does not position them as clear favourite going into the elections especially with the position as the Ghana football Association president position.

The only success the Kurt administration can boast of is the black stars making it to the Fifa world cup,2022 after they missed out on the 2018 world and the under-20 winning the last African cup of nations. The failures of our respective national has been “GIGANTIC”, I must say. Ghana been kicked out of the Afcon group stages, failing in our national youth teams have become the order of the day.

However, the main responsibility of the Ghana football Association is to the see to it that the domestic league becomes an attractive venture which would go a long way to generate revenue for both individual and company’s that decide to participate in.

In the annual Congress G.F.A did, the F.A president Kurt iterated,  Bet Pawa was investing a $1 million for promoting the league and which would bring more people into the various stadia which would generate revenue for the clubs through gate fees. This was a mere propaganda talks from the G.F.A. in the year under review, the worst happened to the domestic league when our two biggest clubs in the league i.e, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak in the president cup game opened a free gate yet, the stadium was virtually empty. My question is , Where is the money set aside for promotion?

It’s been alleged that, the next G.F.A presidency elections would be decided by who has more money to share to delegate who are members of various clubs, Such an irony. It’s such a shame if this is true.

Any delegate who would have the opportunity to vote in the elections should have it in his or her mind that, the only thing in this country that is keeping every Ghanaian united is ‘Football’. Therefore, you should vote for someone who has shown that his credibility is intact, responsible and is a visionary leader.

I end by saying, the leaders who are at the helm of affairs in the Ghana football Association should not forget, in order for them to succeed with any policy they want to under take, they should first invest in the infrastructure.
