Ghana secures a staff-level agreement on the first review of the $3 billion loan facility
The government of Ghana have secured a staff-level agreement with the international monetary fund on the first review of the $3 billion loan facility.
Further, the Reuters’ Africa senior markets correspondent, Rachel Savage believes the agreement gives way for a disbursement of the second tranche of $600 million loan facility pending the executive board approval from the international monetary fund.
In order for the second tranche to hit the account, Ghana needs to secure a debt deal with it’s official creditors.
“To ensure timely completion of the review, the country needs official creditors to quickly reach agreement on a debt treatment in line with the financing assurances they provided in may 2023” Rachel Savage added.
